I think that there is nothing like a black and white photograph. It's a timeless classic. One of the most interesting applications of this technique is the art of the portrait. Here are some portraits that really show what this technique can do. Some of these folks are family. Some are friends. And some are total strangers who were kind enough to let me capture their countenance!
